Herschel Savage (born November 25, 1952 to Jewish parents in New York, New York, U.S.) is an American pornographic actor and porn movie director who began his adult film career in 1975.
Savage has a reputation as one of porn's "nice guys" and is famous for having told off one producer, at the cost of the job he was interviewing for, when the producer was remarkably rude and disrespectful to the actress Savage was interviewing with. Known as an "actor's actor" Savage is known to defend his fellow actors and to be someone who helps friends out in times of trouble. Savage is one of the biggest male performers in porn, and is one of the biggest actors of porn's "Golden Age" in the 1970s and 80's. Savage left porn for about 8 years to pursue legitimate work, but returned to porn and is once again one of the biggest names in the industry.
Savage has also launched a fledgling career as a stand up comedian, and appears frequently on the reality TV series Family Business.
Herschel is a member of the XRCO, Legends of Erotica and AVN Halls of Fame.
