135. J.W. King


J. W. King (July 21, 1955 - December 5, 1986) was an American pornographic actor (porn star) who appeared in gay pornographic movies. He is believed to have passed the virus to other actors within the Bijou Video group of actors. J.W., whose real name was James Waldrop, was born in Texas and moved to Los Angeles in 1979. He also appeared in films as Jim King.According to In Touch Magazine #125 [April 1987, pp.97-98], "J. W. King, one of the most popular and best-liked stars of gay male films, died of AIDS complications in Hollywood on December 5, 1986."
His obituary in Update magazine noted that "He retired from the screen over a year ago and, with his lover (John Murphy, who also died of AIDS in November, 1986), lived in the Hollywood Hills. He had been employed as a waiter at the Sheraton-Premiere Hotel in Universal City for the last 30 months."
R.J. Reynolds, a bisexual pornographic film actor who appeared primarily in straight features, was J. W. King's real life lover at the time of his film appearances with King.
J. W. King is memorialized with an AIDS quilt under the name of Jim Waldrop.
